Udit Narayan: the voice of Bollywood
Udit Narayan (born 1 December 1955 in Baisi, Bihar) is one of the most beloved playback singers in Indian cinema. He made his film debut in 1980 in Unees-Bees, a duet with the great Mohammed Rafi. His breakthrough came in 1988 with Papa Kehte Hain from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Across more than four decades he has recorded countless hits in many languages and been honoured with four National Film Awards, five Filmfare Awards, and India’s civilian honours Padma Shri (2009) and Padma Bhushan (2016). For millions of fans his voice is the soundtrack of their youth, and that is exactly what he brings to the stage when you see Udit Narayan live in Berlin.
Aditya Narayan: the second generation on stage
Aditya Narayan (born 6 August 1987), Udit’s son, is a singer, actor and one of India’s best-known television hosts. He began singing for Bollywood films as a child, including Rangeela (1995), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995) and “Chhota Baccha Jaan Ke” from Masoom (1996). He made his lead film debut in Shaapit (2010) and today hosts major shows such as Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. In Berlin, father and son share the stage: two generations, one unforgettable night.
